Zoo Premiere at the Southern Theater February 2005
Spider monkeys lifting an emu! Two red-tailed hawks moving in perfect unison. Red kangaroos leaping Indian elephants! Zoo is about animal movement. First we obtain animal footage. Then we catalogue the animal movements. Then we graft this movement onto the human skeleton. The dance that results is unpredictable and compelling, strange and beautiful. What happens when a falcon meets a rhinoceros …Oh and why not an ant polka…And what if we combined the lower body of a horse with the upper body of an eagle…
Zoo was highlighted at the University of Minnesota creativity conference where it sparked a lively conversation.
